Most recent cases
I'd say about 25% of my cosmetic work is redoing other dentist's work. Here is an example of a case that was done just 2 years ago where the upper front 4 teeth were veneered. Soon after placement this patient got staining under the new veneers ( microleakage). The dentist attempted to "patch" the veneers using a composite resin material near the gumline. The patient came to me wanting them replaced.
In addition to replacing the faulty 4 veneers, it was noted that the gumlines needed to be evened out, which we did comfortably using a dental laser, and areas where the gums were receeded needed to be filled in using an esthetic bonding material. Many times you have to look beyond the chief concern and consider the whole smile zone in order to achieve a more balanced an esthetic smile result.
Finished result: note the more even gumlines, the better contour of the canine teeth, as well as the more symetrical appearance of the new 4 veneers. Note the overall symetry and flow of the smile line as it follows the lower lip.

Final result...one happy smiling patient !
